Why good touch controls make or break an arcade game
You can have the best art and the cleverest ideas, but if the controls feel mushy, an arcade game is dead on arrival. We've dropped games after thirty seconds for exactly this.
The trick is responsiveness. When you tap, something should happen immediately. Any delay, even a tiny one, and your brain stops trusting the game. Casinacho Games got this right, which is a big reason it stayed on my phone.
Button placement matters too. Thumbs cover a surprising amount of screen, and lazy UI design hides the action behind your own hands. We always check whether we can actually see what we're doing.
Our advice if you're browsing the store: read the complaints, not the praise. Players who struggle with controls are loud about it, and that's the most useful signal you'll find.
